Background to the Business
Harvest IT has been trading for over 4 years developing bespoke database software solutions for various businesses using Access, SQL and Visual Basic to provide relatively low cost solutions. The business’ success was mainly due to Harvest’s ability to fully understand the business needs of the client and convert these into effective solutions, together with exceptional after sales support.

The Company
Mick West is Director of the business. Harvest IT occasionally works with a wide range of other software developers, IT support, e-commerce, process re-engineering and change management specialists to help develop the best solutions for their clients. Because it is a small business, Mick is always involved directly with each client’s work.

Mick has had an extensive sales and sales management career for various companies including Beecham, Britvic, and 14 years with ADG (Camping Gaz) including 8 successful years as Southern Divisional Sales Manager and 5 years as Project Manager involving the launch of Gas Barbecues in the UK , growing market share from 2% to 23% (Brand Leader) over 30 months. Mick also Project Managed the International roll-out of a new Software system for the company. Areas of expertise include: Strategic Business Planning; Product Introduction Processes; Cross-section company analysis for Finance, Administration, Marketing, Sales and Logistics; Visual Basic Programming and in particular Microsoft Access (VBA) and SQL Server; Relational Database Design and Structure, including UNIX systems, e.g. Oracle, Informix in addition to Windows systems.

• Surgery Rota – Rota system for GP Practices 
  

  Surgery Rota has been developed following long consultations with Practice Managers and GPs to produce a system that caters for the specific scheduling issues associated with medium and large GP Surgeries.

  Surgery Rota takes account of varied GP work patterns, varied skills within the Practice, availability of resources and the requirement to offer more accessibility to patients.

  What has in the past been a major task requiring many hours of input will, with the installation of Surgery Rota, become a fast and easy process with schedules produced in minutes rather than hours.

  Surgery Rota shares the workload in an even way and can ensure a fair distribution of the less popular tasks.

  Full support to match client requirements is available throughout the installation process and beyond. Training video-streams are available on this website, a full manual in electronic format is supplied, telephone and remote internet support is available and where required on-site training and support.

• Brinks Northern Ireland – Contract Scheduling Database 
  A database to handle the scheduling of both routine and ad hoc cash collections and deliveries for a fleet of armoured vehicles throughout Northern Ireland .
• Hunter Worldwide Sourcing – Product Sourcing Database
  A database which automates the process of sourcing promotional premiums from Far East based manufacturing companies. Following the success of the Product Sourcing Database an order was received for the handling of contracts from order placement in the Far East through to final delivery to customers in the UK and Europe .
• Zebra Homeloans – Mortgage Packaging Software
  A database to handle the mortgage process from Application through to Completion. Zebra Homeloans package and handle applications from Mortgage Companies throughout the UK . A specialised product for the mortgage packaging industry which also lead to 'MorPro lite', a system capable of being used for smaller mortgage companies. A second system being commisioned specifically for their Secured Loans Division.
• The Right Address – Celebrity Booking Company
  A database to handle the booking of celebrities for client functions.
• Outback Services – Industrial Hire Company specialising in Lighting and Staging for outside events A database to handle the stock management and invoicing of items for hire. The system included the ability to track individual items and serial numbers as the company had to maintain a test and safety inspection program for individual items such as support and structural components on various time scales.
• Boots / Brinks
  A database to handle the cash counting from all Boots stores in Northern Ireland incorporating barcode readers for store and bag identification.
